Hello, everyone. Sadly I am saying goodbye to Charleroi. But I am saying hello to a place called Amiens. The hardest thing I've ever had to do is say goodbye to these wonderful members and all of their hospitality that they've shown to me. These last 12 weeks, we were able to see more miracles than I ever saw in my entire mission in this one area, we were able to have 6 baptismal dates set and then 1 baptism of Leila this last Saturday.
The greatest blessings I've seen on my mission is being able to sit down with people and talk about the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to testify to them that it has been restored on the Earth. One of the most amazing things I've seen is the hearts of these people when I talk about the joy that I've received from this gospel as well. Charleroi has taught me a lot about being a missionary and my personal conversion to Christ and what that means. I don't think there has ever been a person who's loved their mission more than I have loved mine. I'm so grateful. I have 9 months more of this. Can't wait to start grinding in Amiens!
One miracle that the Lord's given us is our ability to have friends at church. It's not easy to get to our church. Anyways, there's no buses that come by, but the last couple weeks, we have had around 6 to 7 friends at church and a lot of them are people that we street contacted. We had a member meal on Sunday night with amazing family who invited us and all of the friends we brought to church that day. It was amazing to hang out with them all on Sunday night we all had an amazing time together. Three of them are currently on baptismal date.
I hated saying goodbye, I said Goodbye to Leïla yesterday, and I had to say goodbye to Julian, who is like a French rapper called the master games which is really funny to compare him to this rapper. I have a photo of him that I'll put in my email. He's amazing, he's also incredible at soccer. That's one thing we found outside today, so good it's crazy. It was tough. One thing that was awesome that happened was that we had a miracle about 4 weeks ago with an inactive family that we visited. They came back to church the next week ! It was pretty easy. I don't know, typically it's not that easy. The mom was so grateful that she spent time embroidering a Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants cover for me! I have a photo of that on my Google Photos, albums as well, it's one of my new favorite things.
Spiritual thought.
On my mission, I've gained a profound love and admiration for Elder Jeffrey R Holland I pretty much listen to him all the time. It's weird. I love his talks. When he gets passionate, he gets a little sarcastic and I think it's something I like to do as well. So I love listening to him I saw a meme the other day that was when satan goes to sleep at night. He looks underneath his bed for Elder Holland. And I got thinking about this idea of satan being afraid of us and not us being afraid of him. And how can we do that? Because I think that he truly is afraid of the apostles and the prophets. But in our own right, we can make satan afraid of us. But I leave the question up to you. How can we make satan afraid of us and our link with our heavenly father?
Love,
Elder Smith
