Our week was crazy, but we have a ton of cool stories.
Last Wednesday, we went down to a city in Belgium called Nivelles and we had an exchange with the elders down there, I was able to exchange with of my favorite missionaries in the mission, Elder (Daddy) Dunn. He is goated. I lived with him for 2 transfers at the beginning of my mission. So we were able to reconnect and talk about a lot of cool things. We also came into the mission at the same time. We also ate American frosting (betty crocker) that was left in the fridge at the Nivelles chapel. Probably one of the fattest things I've done in a long time.
We tried to go back on Wednesday night from Nivelles, only to find that because of a strike, all the trains back to Brussels were canceled. So we had to take this regional train that stopped at every little dinky town in between nivelles and Brussels. Then the next day we went to follow the wall. And this place is one of my favorite places of all time. It's very cooked in the sense that it's an old mining city, but it has a certain feel to it. I also surfed there, so I got to reconnect with a couple members and friends from down there. The apartment is also much more clean than when I was there, so shout out to the elders.
Sunday was awesome. Most of our friends came to church, and we saw a ton of miracles. We set up a bunch of temple tours for tomorrow and for Friday. One of my goals before I leave my mission is that I want to do more temple tours and use the power of the temple more in lessons.
Yesterday was insane because we went to Charleroi's in person district council and our mission President came. I absolutely love my Mission President. He is amazing, and after our district council, we went finding (Blitzed) with all the missionaries, President Munns and with a couple friends and new members from Charleroi. One of them being Julian, who I met on the street when I was in Charleroi, so it was amazing being able to find people with him and listen to his testimony and how it's grown. We also took a photo of where it all started with a street contact in front of the train station.
Spiritual thought
One of our friends pulled Me aside, this last Sunday. And he asked me a very humbling question. He said:
"Mr Smith I see that you have a lot of joy in this church and in being a missionary, but I have to ask you what do you see in the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith?"
That was one of the questions that really took me back, and I had to really think about what I'm out here for. And it kind of made me think about the question by President Russell M. Nelson, how much does the Book of Mormon mean to you?
A lot.
See ya -
Elder Smith
